Sustainable Community Strategy for CornwallThe vision and outcomes of the Sustainable Community Strategy have been recently approved by the Cornwall Strategic Partnership and Cornwall County Council. What is it and why are we doing it? A Sustainable Community Strategy sets out what is important for quality of life and what can be done to protect or improve it in a way that is sustainable. It articulates community needs and aspirations and provides a framework to co-ordinate the actions of public, private, voluntary and community organisations to respond. Cornwall County Council has a legal responsibility to prepare a Sustainable Community Strategy in collaboration with the Cornwall Strategic Partnership. Where have the ideas come from? We have and are undertaking a number of wide ranging consultation with local organisations, town and parish councils, businesses, communities, and representatives of various interest groups What information is it based on? An analysis of social, economic and environmental trends over time provides evidence of need and identifies opportunities and constraints within which we will have to work. The Evidence for each strategic issue identified is available to download, together with the Strategic Issues report. Follow the link on the right hand side. The challenge now is to develop a SustainableCommunity Strategy for Cornwall by developing a stronger focus on integrating social, economic and environmental issues and by tackling the longer-term and global impacts of communities. The Sustainable Community Strategy is the overarching strategy for Cornwall; it aims to address the issues which cannot be resolved by one organisation alone.
