Jayne Herbert, Penzance, Cornwall

Cornish engine house in Penzance CornwallHi, I'm Jayne

I am a freelance web designer living in Penzance on the Penwith Moors in Cornwall. I moved down from London back in 1997, over ten years ago - it seems like only yesterday.

Cornwall is a stunningly beautiful place to live. When we first came here I was concerned that it might too remote and quiet for me here and there wouldn't be enough to keep me busy. I couldn't have been more wrong - I've never been busier.

Last year I was made redundant from my position as Web Manager of the Cornwall Wildlife Trust. Currently I am now a freelance web designer and also do Internet research work and search engine optimisation. I passed my iMedia course last year at Camborne College, for Photoshop, Dreamweaver and Flash, which was great fun to do.

Casey our greyhoundI spend quite a lot of time walking, swimming and doing lots of arty and crafty things. Casey (right), our 3 year old greyhound only came to live with us recently and is keen on his walks. He seems to be enjoying some of the benefits of having the Penwith Moors on his doorstep but dosn't understand yet that we do not encourge the chasing of rabbits or small furry things.

Blue my greyhoundThis year I will be taking my NCFE Level 2 Sugarcraft Certificate and have already sold some of my crafts at local craft fairs. I also enjoy photography, especially with the advent of the digital camera. Although 90% of my photographs are of Blue (left), Casey, moths and the local area, I do sometimes travel further field. I just love taking photographs of sunrises and sunsets, and it's such a great place to be able to do it.

One of my other hobbies is trying to identify moths. I run a light trap all year round, a couple of times a week. The light attracts the the moths without hurting them and I try to identify as many moths as possible before I let them go. I have been doing it for a few years now but am still learning and am far from being an expert but hopefully improving all the time.
